DIY Drone 1.0

Ok, lets clarify the purpose I made 3d printer 4 months ago. 4 months ago I had some blueprint about the thing I designed (came to my mind while I was dreaming and forced myself to wake up to draw it out) but I dont know how to make the prototype. In term of materials I can always get plank but it is impossible to get the shape I want all the time. One of the blueprint is this quadcopter, and I had planned to do it one year before. I bought the components like mpu6050, mini rc motor (but the propellers were not fitted, dam*), and tried to construct a test bed and also the prototype, but failed.
The fire keep burning in my heart (just too angry as I cant really do the thing I wish to do #Fu**ThisLife), and finally I decided to do a 3d printer first.
mpu6050 and mini motors and some useless formula lol
Well, to implement PID in this flying object is not that easy compared to balancing robot with 2 wheels, since the inverted pendulum theory the floor or the object two wheels attached to, acts as a direct frame, at the same time friction acting on wheels and object makes the PID more easy to be tuned. Compare to drone, it is flying from time to time. How? You may try and tune PID on test bed, but it is totally different after it is removed from test bed!!!

LITLE GRAS ANNUAL CONCERT - MASK (2016/04/24)

The best and meaningful concert ever in my life! 会不会是近距离的关系所以效果才那么好啊?Since previously I was an actor in first year (you can only see their back),  committee in second year (forgot what I was doing at that time), so did not had a good opportunity to appreciate this big event and their efforts. Well, this time I was right in front of the stage from time to time, from the beginning to the end..... and nothing else! Took a lot of photos and recognized one interesting, talkative and cute girl called... @@
Anyway, in the end I had the chance to talk to my neighbour whom I meet almost everyday around my room one year ago (yet we didnt chat before), lol, too funny right?
说着说着,我还真的没发现有什么不好的地方。之前音响和乐器盖过声音的问题没有了,乱乱的感觉也没有了,真的太enjoy了。But I did not record for the whole event, SH*T. 灯光是个很大的挑战,learnt something new!

*sorry if your picture appear in this post =P

最满意的是,some of them used my photo as their profile and cover photos, thanks yaa. But, the quality of photos were not that good and,抱歉了,my camera did her best already, and I could not bear to... use my money to buy a new one XDXD
anyway, I could see how enjoy they were as the photographer of the event, if I asked to use their camera, they would have to sacrifice right? 看到他们拍到那么开心,怎么好意思呢。
Hrm... 几时我才有属于自己的一首歌呢?

Visit PSC again (2016/04/23)

This is my second time to visit this meaningful and interesting place that made purposely for MAKERs around the penang. Hearsay this is not the original or place to start PSC, and finally the authorities successfully get a building and cooperate with so many individual makers and also companies.
Beautiful right?
The maker's society finally begins in Malaysia, WOW. Yet the response from University to this PSC not so good. Compared to others countries, we dont have the maker-children as most of the people acquiring relevant knowledge are from Universities. Perhaps a lot of efforts is needed to target University students. We need young makers le.
Drone101 workshop
Actually I came here with Uni Bus, since the IEM was collaborate (not really sure) and they saved some slots for us. Quite informative to those beginners in Drone, but not for me lor... Besides, I planned to make a fully DIY Drone, meaning that uses Arduino with some modules like MPU6050, rf transceiver and so on. I bought my propellers and motors already, but my junior still having it tested with PID controller. Seems he have not succeed, that means my time has come XD
During Idea Fair, two people from PSC paid a visit and came to my booth. They saw my 3d printer and asked whether I am interested to help them do a hot wire cutting machine. Should I?
Going to start making drone soon, stay tuned...

Idea Fair (2016/04/20)

Before I start, let's enjoy this  Idea Fair 2016's video. Not a promotion video, is end-of-event video. I wandered if there is anyone made this kind of video or really took some nice photos and videos for this event, since I was not photographer that day. This video was made from google photos apps in smartphone, pretty convenient if you are taking photos with your phone and synchronizes to cloud, as the apps will just compile some of the videos and photos to a video about 60 to 90 seconds. What you have to do is to change the filter, trim the desired length of each video, change the sound, rearrange the video and... the whole thing will take you about 30 minutes the most. Nice right?

Back to previous Idea Fair, the only different is that in 2015 we were work together with people from same batch (2nd year) but now only 3 or 4 of us were third year students, the rest were from 2nd and 1st year. Indeed it is fun to work with a group of friend with same level of maturity. No offend XD

My DIY 3D printer
Again I brought my wife (this 3d printer) for exhibition. Last time I won RM200 (Best Project Demonstration and Best Categories award) with her. But still not enough to cover the expenses to build this huge thing. Thinking of to make this thing smaller, since this prototype was proven work, and... I think the components/materials can be use to make two smaller size 3D printers, just the matter of time. Hopefully I can find a true partner with same thought, ambitions, idea, characteristic before I graduated, or I will just leave here with nothing. Well, come back to the topic, continue to enjoy my masterpiece.

Guess what? magnetic levitation!!

If not mistaken this game called "guess the pictures", the most
 attractive mini games
It is fun to take nature pictures where they are thinking or doing something seriously rather than having a "NICE" posture that always shows their best in photo. Agree?
Appreciate this event as it really helps some of the "maker" in this University to exhibits their idea/project in front of so many people (I would suggest to let those exhibitor to introduce their idea on the stage). Yet the feedback and response not that encouraging as what was happening last year. Number of exhibitors and participants were just too... And I think that the exhibitor should be made up of students rather than companies right? Since we were asked to present the idea not the product, at the same time the participants should be the company, come to us and tell us what should we do to improve our project. How come you expect the companies to present their ideas, it is highly confidential!!
But I think this condition will stay or even worse in coming year, and not one can actually change anything. People are too enjoy with playing, not willing to spend time to learn more, or just want to learn without apply their knowledge. Indeed I spent most of the time tried to help everyone to learn and do, in the end they just showed me how busy they were, as I never been in their position before, at the sometime uploaded their photos of having fun, how relax they were with luxuries food, told me that tey do not really have money to spend on a project. Really piss me off, LOL.
Tired of complaining, so I just stop here.

Road to Thailand - Day 1 - Hatyai to KlongHae (2016/04/03~07)

Obviously, luck was on my side! At the moment I reached Chudchada hotel with, Boon and Nard just reached there! I was curious but later they told me that, they were so luck to meet a Thai University student (I think is a Malay guy), sat next to Boon on plane, and they had a wonderful discussion about everything and finally that boy decided to give them a drive, at the same time brought them around Songkhla area (actually they went to that University also) and had some local food like coconut ice cream. They got a free ride too!!!
Say "cheese". Well, my facial expression is not that good, I wander too.
Without wasting much more time, after helping Yan Feng to check in and get her room's key, we unloaded luggage before heading to our destination.
As usual, I was the cameraman of the day (should be whole trip LOL). The girl on service desk helped us to call a "DUTDUT" car, while we just had a chat about our fascinating trip from Johor to Hatyai airport.
Our first "DUTDUT" (80 2465)
Passing through the street, you could see many street hawkers
starting to set up their small business. Most all them are selling food
related products.

Every road, intersection are planned pretty well.
You may wander that, there are traffic jam, high speed cars and motors as well as impolite or impatient drivers, nobody is using horn. By then I concludes that "horn" is the privilege of DUTDUT drivers XD

About 5pm, we reached our first check point, Wat Ha Ya Nai (meaning of Wat from google translate - a Buddhist monastery or temple). I cant really tell you the exact location, but here have a Buddha lies down (not sleeping).
Entrance. You will notice that design of every entrance and exit
of the "Wat" is so magnificent.
The "main" temple, the monk have their prayer here. Many stray dogs
around the temple, dubbing with the prayers.
As I mentioned earlier, lies down Buddha, not sleeping Buddha!
Our second check point of the day was floating market, location around Khlong Hae, North of Hatyai. About 6.30pm, our DUTDUT reached here, and the driver went to a small pavilion, and we started looking around for food.
Location of Khlong Hae Floating Market
Baby elephant. The seller sells sugar cane stick at 40 Baht, allowing
others to take pictures with elephant. 3 idiots, hahaha.
No caption.
The atmosphere was quite lively and familiar, had a feeling of being in Malaysia too. As the products/goods were actually same as what you could find in Malaysia. Handphone accessories, T shirt, fried snack and so on. The floating market is located down the bridge, takes 5 minutes from the entrance to there. By the way, the floating market only sell food!!
Floating Market view from the bridge (6.35pm).
They make good use of shredded coconut in food/dessert collocation.
Famous coconut milk shake (25 Baht)
The level of sweetness is too high to me!
One more picture from bridge before we left (730pm)
We reached Asean Night Bazaar around 8.00pm, from North to South of Hatyai. Hawker stalls are located upstairs which separated from downstairs' clothing store. Sometime you could heard people are chatting in chinese as well!
Entrance
Big "ASEAN" logo near the bazaar
Super duper delicious tomyam!!

Seafood Salad ordered by Nard
Our conversation from the beginning she kept saying that "comes to Thai must try Tomyam, or else, you are not really come to Thai", and whatever food we suggested to her she simply rejected. Fortunately, we found and ordered a tomyam for YanFeng. Quite relief while she started eating the food on table, hahaha! The tomyam was mixed with coconut milk, and the taste was really unbelievable, plus the hot and spicy soup... kind of feeling “升仙”.

Street behind the bazaar
Nard said that recently Thai is celebrating Lantern Festival (if I not misheard). Along this street all shops are selling clothes too. I found a accessories shop and ask for xiaomi note3 tempered glass. Finally bargained with the seller to buy at 120 Baht instead of 150 Bath. After leaving bazaar, we went to 7-11 first, to buy some mineral water and snacks for breakfast.
Note that the expire date is year of 59, I wander why too!!
When we reached hotel, had a very long discussion with the driver about the fee we needed to pay. The driver stammered whenever he calculated the fee using his hand. We were totally speechless. Finally we settled it buy 960 Baht, damn it. Before say good night with Yan Feng, we appointed her to meet again for trip on next day.

Lastly, took a photo to mark the end of "Day 1".

Stay tuned...

Road to Thailand - Day 1 - From Senai to Hatyai Airport (2016/04/03~07)

7.00am woke up early in the morning, an hour later than what we planned yesterday! Before going to have breakfast at local food stall, we took toasted chicken as well as chicken rice we ordered. I not really sure about the date of Qing Ming Festival, but we were going to "pay our respect at our grandparents' gravesite.
Can be used for desktop wallpaper right? Professional level!!
All photos were taken by Xiaomi Note 3, as it is impossible to
bring DSLR there right? @@
Less than one hour we arrived our destination “21 mile (21哩)”. Mum was in charged in doing everything, me and my brother were just walking around, took this and that to my mum.
Incense sticks. Another good photo!
Before set off to Senai airport to Hatyai, had a second check on luggage before everything was too late! Selfie? Oh no, recently selfie makes me crazy, but still dont know the exact skill to take a selfie.
Terrible face, hahaha! Photo was took at downstairs of my mum's
rent house. Then I put my bag into my mum's Perodua Myvi.

Dont forget your lovely sport shoes. You cant make your days
without it!!

Then, went to mum's friend's for money change. Never trust you friend when talk about money! Dam* it, they just gave me RM1 = 8.4 Baht, but on the same day the rate that others can give was RM1 = 8.9 Baht. Anyway, let bygones be bygones.
Sorry for being so naughty but bro, I knew your age XD
No offense la... I am a good citizen.
At the moment I reached airport, erm, quite late already. The boarding time was 1.50pm (initially I thought the boarding time is the time when the flight take off), and I was a bit rush and anxious, as I had not printed my ticket/boarding pass. When I reached the customer service counter, "Oh shit, a lot of people queuing there!!" I rushed to counter, asking her to print the boarding pass to me and she answer "dont worry, still have time". And I asked "really? the boarding time is 1.50pm and now is 1.50pm already". "Sure, sir."
My Boarding pass. Please ignore my name, JAJAJA.
My flight. Still have time to take photo? XD
After 10 minutes on plane, I was still the only passenger on it, LOL. Quite curious about what was happening right there, as when I was queuing up and leaving the gate, a lot of people following me.
I am the first one!
Then I met a girl from China, out of sudden. She threw her passport and white card to me and said "help me fill in my, I dont understand anything", then she moved back to her sit. Then I knew her name, Zheng Yan Feng from her passport. A boy sat next to me taught me "Walao, such a rude person. Come on bro, show her we Malaysian is not stupid and afraid of any parties, just write wrong information on the paper". Please, dont call yourself as Malaysian if you really think that way. I simply answered him, and he enjoyed movie on his phone after that.
One good turns deserves another, Indeed. After I reached Hatyai airport, my fortune started with this girl. By the way, my bag's right strap broke at the moment I found a sit and prepared to sit down. I saw Yan Feng, discussing something with a police with Chinese. Wow, excited! I tried to approach and engaged myself into their conversation. Then the girl described me "this is a good guy that help me to fill in my white card on plane". The police smiled, and our discussion started in Chinese.
Actually they were discussing where to go since Yan Feng came here without any purpose, or in other words she didnt plan anything. Finally I suggested her to join us, to get the same hotel, and be our partner of the day as well. She asked me for my Wechat account, but I rejected since I dont play wechat anymore. Yet, when I was booking Chudchada hotel for her by using airport Wifi, her phone number was saved on the website, how coincidence it was.
With police and taxi driver

The girl I mentioned (left)
This taxi driver can talk Hokkien!! From Hatyai airport to Chudchada hotel took about 35 minutes, cost 320 Baht. But the girl decided to pay for me, as I helped her so much from the beginning...

Stay tuned...
